I stole this idea from Fat Bridesmaid. While I was supposed to do this on New Year's Eve or around then, I prefer to procrastinate because I'm really good at it. New Year's Resolution: stop procrastinating. Crap, I already broke that one.
Anyway, here are my answers to her awesome survey:
1. Was 2008 good for you? I would say it was 98 percent awesome. That’s a pretty strong yes, in other words.
2. What was your favorite moment of the year? I’m really bad at picking favorites. Crossing the finish line at the half marathon was pretty spectacular. Also, shooting a gingerbread house and running it over with a truck with my family was fun.
3. What was your worst moment of the year? The thing freshest in my mind was not getting a Christmas bonus. That was sad, particularly cause it was preceded by a high vet bill. This is the first year in awhile that no one I know died, so all in all it was a pretty easy year for me. Gosh, that can’t be the only bad thing that happened to me, was it? I must seriously just be a huge whiner if that’s all that went wrong for me. Maybe I’m just mentally blocking other things? Oh, having a crazy scary experience New Year’s Eve was pretty sucky, but I think it was 2009 at that point.
4. Where were you when 2008 began? Curled up on my bathroom floor in agony cause of the horrible bout of the flu I contracted. Where I was supposed to be was hanging with my sister.
5. Who were you with? I think I was by myself. Even the dog didn’t want to hang out with me at that point.
6. Where were you when 2008 ended? I was sitting in a fancy hotel bar with my sister and two friends, followed by dancing in the snowy street. Much better.
7. Did you keep your new years resolution of 2008? I’m pretty sure I didn’t resolve anything. I think the only thing I wanted to accomplish was being able to run a 5K, as I started running right around January, and I certainly kicked that goal’s ass several times over. Go me!
8. Do you have a new years resolution for 2009? To run a marathon! Goodness, apparently when my goals progress they go big! Also, to learn to do a cartwheel. I really want to figure that shit out. Oh, and to be more social cause I am starting to feel like a hermit.
9. Did you fall in love in 2008? Nope. I realized the other day that it’s been about two years since I’ve even kissed anyone. Should that worry me? It kind of doesn’t. I’m actually sort of intrigued to see how far I can take this before I become a nun or something.
10. Did you make any new friends in 2008? I think I met a few new people through Shawna, so yeah! I’m sure there are others. I’m pretty friendly. And yet I want to be more social? I’m a walking contradiction.
11. What was your favorite month of 2008? I seem to remember being pretty fond of July… any summer month, really.
12. Why this month? I kicked my second 5K’s ass, it was warm and lovely, and I think that’s when I went on an adventure to Crater Lake. Also, I spent plenty of quality time with friends and family and that always makes me happy. Oh and I know it was the month that my sister and I got into some shenanigans during an annual mining festival, which was amusing.
13. Did you travel outside of the US in 2008? I wish!
14. How many different places did you travel to in 2008? To the hometown a few times, Yellowstone to Vegas and everywhere in between (road trip), Portland, Crater Lake, Boise… I think that’s all!
15. Did you miss anybody in the past year? I miss all my friends who live far away, and several people who have died, and my sisters cause they don’t live nearly close enough to me.
16. What was your favorite movie that you saw in 2008? Again, I am awful with favorites. I really liked “Mamma Mia!” cause I’m a sucker for musicals. Also, don’t judge, “The House Bunny” seems to make me laugh for hours for no particular reason. I swear I have better taste in movies than it seems!!!
17. What was your favorite song from 2008? So I would give you an answer involving a Britney Spears song but I fear I’m already being judged due to my choice in movies. So… oooh, I seem to remember playing Sugarland’s new cd over and over and over, that was fun.
18. How many concerts or plays did you see in 2008? I think I saw a couple local concerts, but that’s about it. I had to go to a few school concerts/plays for my job, does that count?
19. Did you have a favorite concert in 2008? Oh, probably…
20. What was your favorite book in 2008? I read “The Jane Austen Book Club” this year and it made it into my top ten of all time.
21. Did you do anything you are ashamed of this year? Sometimes I gossip a lot, I wish I would stop that. And once I got a wee bit drunk and saw a really hot guy that I know and yelled, “Oh my gosh, I know you!” The next logical step was to jump into the air, hug him, and wrap my legs around him. He’s very tall, I’m very not tall. I really wish I hadn’t done that. It was awkward.
22. What was the biggest lie you told in 2008? I try not to lie a lot. Sometimes I lie to my sister just for fun, but she always knows I’m lying. Umm… I lied to my mother about when I was coming home in order to surprise her; that took some serious lying.
23. Did you treat somebody badly in 2008? Oh, I could probably be nicer to my boss, but I just don’t want to. The other day I yelled at my sister for no reason (I was PMS-ing) and about two minutes later we laughed uproariously about it, but I probably should have been nicer to her. Also, sometimes when my dog tries to wake me up in the morning I pretend I’m sleeping for five extra minutes. That’s moderately unfriendly of me.
24. Did somebody treat you badly in 2008? I’m sure people have treated me badly, but I try not to pay attention to them.
25. What was your proudest moment of 2008? Crossing the finish line at the half marathon was, again, pretty kick ass. I won an award in a statewide contest at work too, and that was a big deal. One day I had really awesome hair too, and I was pretty proud of that.
26. What was your most embarrassing moment of 2008? Well we already talked about my penchant for being far too aggressive with the hugging… Gosh, what else have I done? I embarrass myself on a daily basis, really.
27. If you could go back to any moment of 2008 and change something, what would it be? I don’t know that I would change anything. Even if things went wrong, I figure at least I learned something.
28. Where did you work in 2008? At the same place I worked in 2007.
29. Favorite TV shows(s) of 2008? The Office, Lost, Biggest Loser, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Pushing Daisies, Chuck…
30. Favorite Band(s) of 2008? Oh, probably Sugarland, except they’re a duo.
31. Favorite Food in 2008? I’m eating a really delicious sandwich right now, too bad it’s 2009. Oh, I know what it is—I created this delicious oatmeal concoction that I literally could eat every day for breakfast. That stuff is delicious.
32. Favorite Drink in 2008? Water!
33. Favorite Place in 2008? I ate breakfast at a really random truck stop in the middle of nowhere Nevada and it was the most glorious thing ever. I really enjoyed that place. Also, Crater Lake was really pretty.
34. Favorite person(s) to be with in 2008? My sisters are always a good time, as is Shawna and all my other buddies who I don’t see nearly often enough.
35. Favorite person(s) to talk to in 2008? Myself, or basically anyone who will talk to me.
36. Favorite trip in 2008? I have to pick one? All of my travels are glorious fun. I would have to say the cross country road trip with the older sister and BIL (brother-in-law) because I hadn’t seen her in two years so it was fun to have quality time to pester her.
37. Favorite stores in 2008? Target, Old Navy, Trader Joes, Ross… Yeah, that’s all I’ve got.
38. Hardest thing you had to go through in 2008? It really wasn’t that difficult of a year for me. 2007 was pretty difficult, so as far as things go 2008 kind of rocked.
39. Most exciting moment(s) in 2008? Finding out I won an awesome professional award, and yelling, “Shit, I won something!” I enjoyed that. Also, crossing the finish line at my first 5K and realizing I had just run over three miles without stopping was exciting—mainly cause I was done. Also, having my legs wrapped around a super hot guy who I didn’t know well enough to be wrapping my legs around him was up there on the exciting meter.
40. Funniest moment(s) in 2008? Faceplanting into a ditch was kind of hilarious. Also, having my legs wrapped around a super hot guy who I didn’t know well enough to be wrapping my legs around him. Also, one time I was doing a double feature at the movies with the younger sister and we started laughing during a really quiet moment and couldn’t stop so that made it even funnier. Oh, and getting my ass smacked by a stranger in attempt to get into shenanigans was pretty funny. That’s all I can think of at the moment.

I love how many times you mentioned how you aggressively hugged that guy and threw your legs around him. Also, I have never laughed more in my life than I did at the double feature! I am laughing right now just thinking about it!
How could you forget Kenny Chesney!??!?!
AHA, I knew I'd been to a concert this year!!!!
